Rotorua is just three hours drive from
Auckland and five hours from Wellington. Located in the heart of the north Island, Rotorua
is just one hour from the coast and two hours from the ski slopes of Mount Ruapehu.
Rotorua has daily air services with new Zealand's main gateway cities, connecting with
international flights. Trains operate out of Auckland to Rotorua and coaches from all
other points.
Rotorua is part of the aptly named 'Bay of Plenty'. Most
of the Bay of Plenty is within an hour's drive of Rotorua and includes 18 off-shore
islands (one of which is an active volcano) and 259 kilometres of coastline.
