The District Grand Master's Column

Greetings Brethren and Ladies all.

I trust that the winter weather is not causing too many problems to you and that you are all well. We wish those who are not so all the best for a speedy recovery.

I wish to sincerely thank all those brethren who have so willingly supported the establishing of Acacia Lodge No 472. The Constitution and Dedication on Saturday the 26th was a great success and saw the Tokoroa/Orakau Lodge room filled by ladies and brethren for the most impressive main ceremony after which the ladies attended their function and entertainment. The Tokoroa Club provided a great meal in the evening and on behalf of Acacia Lodge would extend to Wayne Jowett, Tokoroa Club Manager, and his staff and caterers our heartfelt thanks.

Congratulations

On behalf of all our members, I extend our congratulations to W Bro Kevin Allen PGBB for his election as District Grand Master of Geyserland District No 11, for the 2010 - 2013 term.

Welcome to the Website of the Geyserland Masonic District No 11 of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of New Zealand.

The object of this website is to bring to the public the modern face of Freemasonry, to dispel myths and to promote the many positive aspects of Freemasonry. All Freemasons throughout the ages and throughout the world must believe in a supreme being according to the member’s religious belief. Freemasonry practices Benevolence and Charity to those in need. The guiding principle of Freemasonry is the philosophy of ‘Making Good Men Better’ and to this end Freemasonry promotes within each member "Truth, Honour and Virtue".

Freemasonry has accepted the need for change to many of it’s procedures to enable the organisation to survive in today’s modern society. The advent of technological communications such as Websites, E-mail and Mobile phones has allowed the dissemination of information to reach many people. It is our fervent wish that the information available to the public contained not only in this website, but also through the "net" itself will allow those with a genuine interest to freely approach Freemasonry using the contact phone numbers of the various Lodges not only of the Geyserland District as listed within this site, but also the official website of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of New Zealand.

Your queries will be most welcome.

Upcoming Changes

There are ongoing and upcoming changes to this website. Please refer back from time to time. Thank you. Ongoing changes include updates to and additions to the current information. Upcoming changes will include a complete rewrite of the website, with a calendar for District visits, individual pages for each Lodge, gallery and a host of other improvements.

Update: 12 July 2010

It has been confirmed by Grand Lodge New Zealand that Geyserland District No 11 will be able to utilise the template offered by Grand Lodge for our website. Look forward to changes in the near future.

A current District Web Site in New Zealand is:
Country eMasonz - The Country Lodges of the Ruapehu District

Our website will be similar but, of course, be relevant to Geyserland District. Take note of the individual lodge pages.

The opportunity is also available for each individual lodge to have their own website.

For an example of an individual lodge's website, look at:
Lodge Awatea No 258

The information required by Grand Lodge to set up a lodge website and the one-off costs involved are as detailed in the recent Freemason's Magazine.
