The District Grand Master's Column

Greetings Brethren and Ladies all.

Welcome to Geyserland District No. 11, Freemasons New Zealand.

District Grand Master’s Column May 2012

Greetings Brethren of all Lodges.

I have just returned from Adelaide where I attended the South Australia and Northern Territories Communications and the Grand Installation. Best Communications I have attended: I was home within an hour and it was held in the evening in Lounge suit with Regalia. I received my Diploma of Masonic Education from the Grand Master. The Installation was also done to perfection with a superb male choir (non Masonic). Hopefully our Installation this month at Geyserland will also go well.

Sadly it is the last meeting this month of Lodge Putaruru Tirau before the handing in of their Charter on June 7th. On a positive note I can report that most Lodges are seeing the benefits of new members and those that are not are in the process of advertising their wares for interested parties.

I look forward to seeing you soon and do not forget the Communications this month at Hamilton on 26th.

Kevin ALLEN District Grand Master Geyserland 11

A reminder the Northern District Communications will be held at the Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts, Waikato University, Knighton Road, Hamilton at 9 a.m. Saturday 26th May 2012. All brethren from Entered Apprentices onwards are welcome and hopefully we can make a good attendance. There are several remits to be dealt with as communicated to all Lodges. Registration costs $25 and must be in by 18th May.

In Search of that which has been Forgotten - Part 2

Greetings to you all,

In wrapping matters up with regard to the Northland Trip, I advise that through your generosity in the giving of your time, donations, generous bidding at the various auctions, and the conviction on a number of misdemeanours as observed by the Sherriff, the total proceeds raised was $4,110.20.

Moved by the generosity of your giving, the chairman of the Mangere Masonic Charitable Trust 330 has made recommendation to his fellow Trustees to make a contribution from the Trust to enable the gross contribution towards the cause to be $6,000.00.

This being the case, RW Bro Eddie Eeles is working to secure the balance required to enable this project to be completed in time for the Divisional conference in May so that a presentation can be made on your behalf.

RW Bro Eddie, along with myself, can not thank you enough for being part of this journey in support of this cause.

I therefore cannot better reward you for your endeavours other than to attach the “Official” answers to the icon Sudoku (10 kB) and icon Crossword (17 kB) so valiantly attempted by you, more particularly by the Ladies. In the event that your original crosswords have been manufactured into darts to be directed at me, I also attach the icon puzzle and clues (24 kB).

Whilst there have been a number of informed discussions about the spelling of answers and interpretation of clues etc, the solution as attached is the definitive one.

Again thank you all for your participation. Roll on 2013 for “In Search for that which has been forgotten – Part 3”.

Kind Regards
Brian Crone

Tyler's Toast

To all poor and distressed Freemasons
Wherever they may be
We wish them a speedy relief from their sufferings
And a safe return to their native land
Should they so desire.

This toast, and variations of, is given at the end of a light meal after Lodge meetings all around the world. It is honoured by all present and gives us pause to reflect on those less fortunate than those able to attend.

Geyserland District takes this opportunity to pause and reflect on all those who are suffering and know that our thoughts are with you.

St John Ambulance and The Freemasons Charity.
